Solar panels installed to provide 24 hour electricity to the main buildings / kitchens and to replace the diesel generator as the only source of occasional power to limited areas of the farm.
An annual program of cleaning, repairing and painting of all farm buildings is being rigorously implemented.
Within the beneficio the electric systems have been replaced and the bean grading equipment and fermentation tanks have been refurbished to ensure that the beans are treated as they should be – gently.
A water recycling system has been installed within the beneficio to reduce water usage during the wet milling process.
A waste water purification system has been installed to deal with dirty water from both the latrines and to deal with honey water from the beneficio before it enters the local river system (this has been approved by the local environmental authority, MARENA).
Litter bins have been provided around the farm and there is a “zero tolerance” policy to litter.
